What to Look for in a Vacuum for Pet Hair
When it comes to selecting the best vacuum for pet hair, understanding your needs is crucial. Pets can make our homes messy, requiring a vacuum that effectively collects dirt and hair. Look for models that come with powerful motors, as they are capable of picking up pet hair quickly. For instance, the iRobot Roomba j7 is known for its motorized brushroll, making it a fantastic choice for pet owners.

Pay attention to the configuration of the vacuum. A vacuum with anti-twist tubes can minimize the chances of hair getting tangled, providing a smoother cleaning experience. It’s a benefit you’ll notice when dealing with particularly messy areas, as the vacuum will maintain suction without constant interruptions. Cheaper models might not offer this feature, so consider your budget versus the value it brings.
Another important feature is the weight of the vacuum; some models, like the Ludlow ProPet, are lightweight and easy to carry. This design helps especially if you need to move from one room to another, making cleaning less of a chore. While a pocket-friendly vacuum is great, it’s better to plan for one that is made to endure various types of messes. The Eureka PowerSpeed is an example of a budget-friendly option that still provides powerful suction and is lightweight.

- Great for Pet Owners: Includes a pet turbo tool crevice tool dusting brush and upholstery tool that can all be stored on board for easy access and above floor cleaning.
- Warning: When you use the vacuum cleaner, the floor brush may be clogged by hairs and dirts. We recommend cleaning the roller brush and the belt to remove the hairs and dirts every 2 weeks. If the roller and belt not cleaned for a long time, it may cause malfunction, and in some serious cases, there may be the risk of smoke and belt broken.
- Zero Maintenance Cost: Washable filters and bagless design make the PowerSpeed easy to maintain.
- Brushroll: A good brushroll is essential for effective pet hair removal. Consider a vacuum where you can easily access and clean the brushroll.
- Filtration: Look for models that come with advanced HEPA filters, which trap allergens and ensure a fresh environment.
- Accessories: A vacuum sold with various attachments, like a motorized pet tool or upholstery brush, allows for versatile cleaning.
Also, don’t overlook the length of the power cord and hose. A longer reach means you can clean larger areas without having to switch outlets frequently. If you select a vacuum with a good screen indicating when it’s full, this can save time as you won’t have to frequently check the filling.
Finally, consider how easy it is to maintain. Models requiring less frequent maintenance will save you time in the long run. Check user reviews and look for an amazing tester that shares detailed insights about performance. By keeping these factors in mind, you can confidently select a vacuum that not only suits your lifestyle but also helps in keeping your home clean and fresh.
Understanding Suction Power and Brush Design
When it comes to vacuuming pet hair, understanding the suction power and brush design of different models is crucial. You might guess that a vacuum’s ability to suck up pet hair would depend solely on its suction, but this isn’t the whole story. The brush design plays a significant role, especially when dealing with multiple surfaces like hardwood and carpets. For pet owners, a vacuum must be efficient in picking up hair without requiring too much effort.
Suction power is often measured in watts or air watts, and many vacuums on the market provide a shocking amount of suction. For instance, brands like Shark offer models with advanced suction systems that are amazing for removing hair from various surfaces. This year, the Shark Vertex Upright Vacuum has been praised for its impressive suction, ensuring even the most embedded pet hair is quickly and easily removed.

Along with suction, the brush design enhances a vacuum’s ability to capture pet hair. Look for models that feature a ball design or specialized attachments for maneuverability. A detailed review of such attachments can reveal how well they detect and remove hair, especially in tricky areas. Regular cleaning of the brush ensures that performance remains at its peak. The Cleangenius Vacuum is one such model that provides a satisfying cleaning experience while being lightweight and easy to handle.
Keep in mind that vacuuming pet hair doesn’t have to be an exhausting chore. The right vacuum can be simple to operate and won’t require you to spend hours emptying canisters. Some models even come with large dust bins that can hold up to several gallons of debris. If you do a little research and check customer reviews, you’ll notice that satisfaction rates for pet hair vacuums are high. Vacuums like the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser are excellent at picking hair off furniture and carpets without any struggles.

In the competitive market of 2025, models that blend powerful suction with versatile brush designs are your best bet for hassle-free cleaning.
Importance of Filtration Systems for Allergens
When it comes to keeping our homes clean, especially for pet owners, filtration systems in vacuums play a crucial role in capturing allergens that can affect our health. Many vacuums today are brilliantly designed with advanced filtration technologies that can effectively catch tiny particles like pollen and pet dander. These systems are particularly important for those who suffer from allergies and need to ensure a healthier living environment.
Products like the Dyson V15 Detect come with built-in filtration that captures up to 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. This kind of technology is essential, as it significantly reduces the amount of allergy-inducing substances that may be close to your furry friends. The clever arrangement of these filters often includes disposable options that are easy to replace, ensuring that you can maintain optimal performance without hassle.

The importance of having a quality filtration system cannot be overstated, as it not only captures allergens but also helps in the avoidance of contaminated air circulation. With vacuums that include roller brushes and laser technology to detect hidden dust, you can ensure that your cleaning routine is effective. Brands like Hoover also offer versions with built-in filtration systems that make it easy to keep the air in your home fresh and clean.
In summary, investing in a vacuum cleaner with a high-quality filtration system is essential for any pet owner. The right product will not only tackle the tough pet hair but will also ensure a cleaner, healthier living space by capturing harmful particles. So, if you love your pets but want to avoid allergens, make sure you choose a vacuum that includes advanced filtration options!
Choosing the Right Attachments for Different Surfaces
When it comes to keeping your home clean, especially with pets like cats that love to shed, having the right vacuum attachments can make all the difference. You’ll be impressed by how well you can manage to tackle various surfaces in your home. For instance, a motorized brush head often excels at picking up stubborn strands of pet hair from carpets and rugs. This is particularly useful during those high-shedding seasons when your furry friends seem to scatter fur everywhere in seconds.
For hard floors, you might want to turn to a softer attachment that lets you easily glide over tile or hardwood without scratching. Many modern systems, like those from Tineco and Dyson, include intelligent features that automatically detect the type of surface and adjust the suction power accordingly. Cheaper models might not have this capability, so it’s worth noting the product stats before making a purchase.
Another consideration is self-empty models. Some vacuums can hold up to 45 liters, allowing you to clean larger areas without constantly emptying the bin. If you’re still using a traditional vacuum, you might find it cumbersome to keep up with your pets. A vacuum like the Cleangenius, which has attachments specifically designed for litter and pet hair, can greatly enhance your cleaning routine.

In conclusion, knowing which attachments to use for different surfaces is crucial for effective cleaning. By keeping your vacuum equipped with the right tools, whether you’re dealing with cat litter or fur, you’ll find it much easier to maintain a tidy home. With comments from testers often praising products like the Tineco for its compatibility with various surfaces and ease of use, it’s no wonder these vacuums are gaining popularity. So go ahead, invest in the right attachments, and see how much easier cleaning can be!
Battery Life and Corded vs. Cordless Options
When considering the best vacuums for pet hair in 2025, one key factor is battery life, especially for cordless models. These vacuums often come with a variety of features tailored for pet owners, such as anti-twist technology and removable batteries. For instance, models like the Dyson V15 Detect and the Shark ION F80 provide impressive runtime–up to 60 minutes–making them ideal for tackling hair and debris in every nook and cranny of your home.
Now, let’s talk about the ongoing debate between corded and cordless vacuums. Corded vacuums generally offer unlimited cleaning time, which can be beneficial for those who frequently clean large areas. However, cordless options like the Hoover ONEPWR and Dyson V11 are designed for quick clean-ups and are less bulky, allowing you to easily maneuver around furniture and handle tough spots without being tethered to a power source. These models are perfect for flying through the house and quickly addressing messes–especially when you’re short on time.
The amount of suction power in cordless vacuums did not used to match that of their corded counterparts; however, advancements in technology now make it possible. With the right choice, you can suck up those pesky hair strands in seconds. Many modern cordless models have a boost mode that gives you that extra power when you need it most. For example, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away excels at capturing even the most stubborn hair while remaining lightweight and easy to handle.
Battery life can vary widely among cordless options, so it’s crucial to assess your cleaning habits. If you typically clean in small bursts or have a smaller home, a vacuum with shorter battery life might be enough. On the other hand, if your cleaning sessions are longer or if you have multiple pets, consider models with a docking station for easy recharging between uses, such as the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Cordless, which can handle lots of cleanup thanks to its strong battery life.
In conclusion, whether you choose a corded vacuum or a cordless model, your decision will ultimately depend on your pet-related cleaning needs and lifestyle. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution; however, by looking closely at features like battery life, suction power, and maneuverability, you can find a vacuum that makes your cleaning experience as effortless as possible.
Weight and Maneuverability for Easy Use
When it comes to cleaning up pet hair, weight and maneuverability are crucial factors that can make a significant difference in your cleaning experience. Today’s specialised vacuum cleaners are designed to tackle lots of pet hair effortlessly, making them essential for pet owners. Many models have discovered that a lighter vacuum can help you move around your home quickly without putting too much strain on your back. For instance, the Shark Rocket Corded Hand Vac is a fantastic option that weighs less than 8 pounds, allowing you to easily carry it from room to room.

Reviewers frequently highlight the importance of adjustable designs in vacuums, which provide enhanced interaction in tighter spaces. The Dyson V15 Detect features an innovative powerdetect technology that automatically adjusts suction based on the amount of debris–be it those pesky Cheerios or larger dust particles. This means you can clean efficiently without having to worry about switching settings manually.
Another significant point to consider is the design of dustbins. There’s a newer trend in vacuum cleaners where dustbins are designed to be fitted with larger capacities, enabling you to vacuum more areas without frequent emptying. The iRobot Roomba i7+ takes this into account by coming with a docking station that automatically empties the dustbin, making it less unpleasant to clean up after your pets. This technology provides a more hygienic cleansing experience, particularly when dealing with strong odors that can build up over time.

Q&A:
What are the main features to look for in a vacuum for pet hair?
When searching for a vacuum specifically designed for pet hair, there are several key features to consider. First, suction power is critical; stronger suction helps to effectively remove hair from carpets and upholstery. Look for models with specialized brushes or attachments that are designed to lift pet hair from various surfaces without getting tangled. Additionally, a vacuum with a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter can capture pet dander and allergens, making it a healthier choice for homes with pets. Lastly, consider the vacuum’s design—models that are lightweight and easy to maneuver can make cleaning much simpler and more convenient.
Are stick vacuum cleaners suitable for picking up pet hair?
Yes, stick vacuum cleaners can be quite effective for picking up pet hair, especially if they have strong suction and specialized attachments. Many modern stick vacuums are designed to be lightweight and easy to use, making them handy for quick clean-ups around the house. It’s important to choose a model that includes large brush heads or motorized attachments that are capable of tackling pet hair efficiently. However, for larger homes or heavy shedding, a traditional upright vacuum may offer a more powerful clean.
How do robot vacuums perform in cleaning pet hair?
Robot vacuums can perform well in cleaning pet hair, particularly if they are equipped with strong suction and features tailored for pet owners. Many models come with tangle-free brushes and high-efficiency filters that help them pick up hair effectively. They are also programmed to navigate around obstacles, making them convenient for routine cleaning. However, it’s recommended to use them in tandem with traditional vacuums for a thorough clean, especially in homes with a lot of pet hair. Regular maintenance, such as emptying the dust bin and cleaning the brushes, is also necessary to keep them working efficiently.
What brands are recommended for pet hair vacuums in 2025?
In 2025, several brands stand out for their performance in vacuuming pet hair. Brands like Dyson, Shark, and Bissell have been consistently recognized for their innovative features and powerful suction. Dyson is known for its technology and design, making it effective for pet hair removal. Shark offers a variety of models with anti-hair-wrap technology, making them ideal for homes with shedding pets. Bissell also provides numerous vacuums specifically designed for pet owners, often featuring tools that tackle pet-related messes. It’s wise to check product reviews and specifications to find the best fit for your cleaning needs.
How do I maintain my vacuum to ensure it effectively picks up pet hair?
Maintaining your vacuum is essential to keep it performing well, especially when dealing with pet hair. Begin by regularly emptying the dust bin to avoid clogging. Clean or replace filters as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure proper airflow. Additionally, check the brush rolls for tangled hair and debris; it’s important to remove any obstructions to maintain suction power. Inspect the hoses and attachments for blockages and clean them as needed. Regular maintenance will extend the life of your vacuum and improve its efficiency in dealing with pet hair.

Read Up on SmartMaps and Manual Control B4 using – J7+ Roomba. Context of this review:First time buyer of any model of IRobot Roomba vacuum.Purchased the J7+ that includes the robot and the waste station.I do like it. It is not perfect but after a couple of days of use, I am impressed. There is a learning period for both myself and the robot.1) First off, after unboxing, put the station in and put the robot into position to charge for a few hours. While charging download the app to your phone and connect. Read the user manual about how the ring light on the robot works. It is context based – charging, vacuuming, etc. – and means different things based on the context.2)The light on the waste station is peculiar and does not stay on when plugged in and charging.Nor does the light on the robot stay on when charging. There is a momentary initial light on each.3) I should have read up on from their support website about Smartmaps first. After a full charge, I let the robot run through the first floor of my home. On the initial pass, It was able to do about 2.5 rooms before it needed to be recharged. While recharging, I mistakenly cancelled the initial full floor job. It worked out OK after the second full floor job – completing the first map and a new second map at the same time. Be prepared to walk around with your robot to train it where not to go. I was able to use the pause button on the phone and the top button on the robot. However, it may be better to hit the sense bars on the robot to initially avoid areas while you create the first couple maps. Subsequently, I plan to mark out the no-go zones.4) Apparently, the position of the charge station is very important. You may want to plan this out in advance even before buying. The station needs to be near an outlet and have a clearance on each side of 1.5 feet, more distance is required if near a stairway. I am not sure how this effects your first maps if you move your station to another location on the same floor. iRobot advises getting a second waste station if you move your robot between two floors – one station for each floor. Clearly, the station position is important for the robot to know.5) Preparation of your home for the robot can be important before using it. Pet food bowls, electrical cords, and floor mats are some of the things to consider. I found the robot had problems with a raised fireplace hearth. It was low enough to try to go on top of it but had trouble negotiating while trying to vaccuum along the edge. The fire place hearth is one area I plan on giving a no-go zone to, as well as the pet food bowls. Because preparation is needed, I am not sure how useful scheduling is going to be, unless you have a sparse home with no pets and little moveable furniture.6) Maintenance – While on the first job ever, the vaccuum managed to wrap a cat play string around the rotating brush. I had to stop the robot and unwrap the string. (note to self – pick up all string) There was also cat hair around the rotating brush in the in joints of roller shafts that also needed clearing. I can see how maintenance is going to be a recurring thing with the robot, when you usually ignore your upright vaccums, but for emptying its bag and cleaning filters. Maintenance costs are going to be more than your upright vacuum, which you may want to consider with the upfront purchase costs.7) Cleaner home? With hair shedding pets, I can see how one’s home may remain cleaner if you regularly run the robot. The robot can also run under some things (some couches, some cabinets) where you cannot vacuum with an upright. However, there are likely to still be some areas/rooms where you don’t want to run the vacuum robot – areas near food bowls, cat litter boxes, and bathrooms.8) With a camera on the front of the robot, I think there is much that the irobot can do in programming it to clean better and navigate better.9) I have much to learn about using the robot due to my inexperience. However, I think I can make this work to keep my home cleaner.
Powerful. I got the Hoover ONEPWR Blade MAX AutoVac Cordless Hand Held Vacuum Cleaner to keep my vehicles clean. This vac has a lot going for it for automotive use. It’s cordless and the battery capacity is very good. The suction is good and I like that it has the hose attachment and associated tools.I have no complaints about battery life, especially since it comes with 2 batteries. I have only once had to change out batteries to finish a job.The only thing I had a problem with is the location of the power switch: sometimes I accidently turned off the vacuum by holding it wrong. I have adjusted how I hold it now.
Best handheld vac Ive ever had. Great suction and lightweight. Batter doesn’t last super long, but decent and comes with 2 batteries, so easy to swap out when doing a lot of work.
Very poor performance and reliability. Within 3 weeks of purchase, started to have problems. Robot would suddenly decide to stop during a cleaning run, state it was blocked (nothing there) and die on the spot. Lots of reboots and resets for weeks. Robot refused to work.Along the way, the robot would not clean stating the bin was full. It was empty. Discovered via Google search (since iRobot doesn’t provide real answers) that the problem had to do with the bin sides not being clean which did not allow the full bin sensors (long black bars on the robot along the bin’s location) to transmit a beam. If the beam did not make it through from one side to the other, regardless of the bin’s actual empty/full status, the robot would assume (incorrectly) the bin was full. The bin needed to be cleaned often if it had accumulated lite amounts of dust on the side. If not, the errors took place. Didn’t matter if the continue to clean if bin is full option was selected. Robot would ignore the selection and just not move. This is a very poor engineering and software design. Other manufactures, according to others and manufacturers don’t use the same design as iRobot due to such false errors taking place.Getting service folks to provide service and solutions is a goat rope indeed. Have to jump through hoops in order to get attention and then, have to start all over again because service folks just follow a script and don’t listen/pay attention to the problems taking place in the real world. After 5 months of trying to get the robot to work properly, having 3 replacement robots and 3 replacement clean bases, it appeared the 2 finally were communicating with each other and worked. Nah, just an iRobot mean joke. Within a week of the 3rd round of replacements, the clean bin issue came up. No matter how many times the bin was cleaned, no matter how many reboots, and changing bins, the robot refused to work.Too late to return to Amazon and iRobot will not refund money due to having purchased the robot system via Amazon and not directly from iRobot. The iRobot punishment for purchasing via Amazon? No refund and just provide (maybe) another (4th) dumb robot and clean base.Had enough of the robot and iRobot. Got so frustrated I provided the robot and the clean base a new home where the two can live together in peace and not mess up ever again. The home – the landfill. No more iRobot robots. As time has gone by, have gone through several models. Progressively they have gotten more technologically “advanced” but not smarter. They run into things more often, forget where they are, forget where the base is and are not consistently reliable. The engineers don’t have regular people test the robots before they are sold. Theory and reality don’t mix at the robot factory. They sure have gotten more expensive. Have noticed they go on sale often; guess iRobot can’t sell them due to problems along with competition getting more sales.Awaiting my new Roborock. Has lidar (iRobot doesn’t believe in it thus need to have lights on for the robots to find their way) which allows the robot to work without lights. I had to buy lamps and timers so the Roomba could work. An added expense. iRobot never disclosed prior to the sale light is a requirement for the robots to work. The light near the camera does not provide enough light for the Roomba to work properly. Even with lights, the Roombas get lost or don’t work properly.I hope the Roborock works. While all the robot brands have problems (ratings are about 4.3-4.5), crossing fingers this one excels over the Roomba. Thus, after over a decade of using only Roombas, we have parted ways permanently and do not recommend to anyone that wants value for their hard-earned money when purchasing a floor robot. I’m sure the Roomba and its base now have plenty of dirt covering them from the hot sun in the landfill – where they belong.UPDATE: 8/25/2023The second J7+ began failing more often a few days after the first J7+. Gets lost, stops all of a sudden and dies. Sometimes it said it is stuck, it’s not, sometimes is said out of power, yet about 2-3 feet from clean base and sometimes just stops, ends job without a reason.Have had to replace the battery (robot about 2 months old). It sometimes forgets to clean per the clean map guidance.Speaking of clean maps, it has lost the maps several times which forces me to remap the entire floor. It, like its twin, no longer provide a means to add favorites to the routine. iRobot technical support have no idea how to get the feature back even with all of their “research”. What I have been able to determine is that this same issue has occurred and is occurring to others.iRobot is busy lowering machine prices but not as busy fixing existing problems. The Roborock we purchased to replace the J7+ has been great. Not only does it vacuum very well, it mops too. All in one machine. The machine is quieter, doesn’t have problems and gets the job done in about 40% less time (the robot uses more intelligent algorithms to move to clean). I no longer have to go around turning on lights to help the (Roomba) robot find its way. The Roborock uses lidar which does not require lights and is much more efficient and effective in its journey. We should have tried out the Roborock instead of the falling apart and unreliable Roomba. Would highly recommend to those who want to spend their money wisely to try the Roborock with the features they need and not look at the Roomba. The Roomba was a pioneer back in the day of robot cleaning but those years (ag0) have long past. All of the competition proves the Roomba is no longer as good as it used to be. Now, just lots of marketing/advertising to make the it sound and look good but from the real world of a purchaser, that’s not the case. Save your money and frustrations, look elsewhere other than iRobot.
Bought from Amazon .co.uk. Cam with US plug so I had to have an adapter. Then machine was unable to self empty because power difference between U.K. and US. Why sell US version in U.K.? Had to return it . Hopeless.
Best Vacuum I Have Ever Owned. This vacuum will both change and ruin your life, because you will realize how dirty your home really is….😅Best vacuum I have ever owned. For context: my wife has extremely thick, wavy hair and we have a medium size dog with medium length, wiry hair who sheds frequently. We live in a 2 bedroom home with hardwood and tile floors and some rugs.General Performance and Hair PickupThis was our main concern. We owned a Miele Cat and Dog C1 vacuum and my wife’s hair would tangle the brush to hell, making it a pain to clean. I cleaned our entire house without any tangles in the brush. The brush self detangles as it runs so it is perfect for houses with women/pets who shed. This thing is powerful. It will also adjust speed/suction based on the level of dust it detects.P.S. If you have issues with the rug/carpet brush to spin, adjust the speed to eco and lower the slide bar on the head.Battery LifeThis is where the vacuum lacks but for the power it outputs and being cordless, it’s understandable. On the auto setting, you’ll get about 45 minutes on the auto charge, 60 on eco, and about 30 on full power. A little annoying if your house is dirty and you’re in the groove of cleaning but have to stop to charge.WeightFor a bigger guy like myself I find it to be the perfect weight but I can see it being heavy to use for smaller people with continuous use. Not heavier than a cord bag vacuum like a Miele but still on the heavier side for a stick vacuum.Storage CapacityFor a stick vacuum, the storage capacity is pretty good. Depending on the size of your house/level of dirty, it can fill up somewhat quickly but it is easy to empty so it’s not an issue.CleaningSuper easy to clean the brushed and the collection bin. You empty it almost like a pump action, dirty dropping from the bottom. If you have some hair stuck around the filter, fully open and close it a few times and it will be pulled down by the inner rubber ring. The hardwood floor brush is like a microfiber material but easy to disassemble and clean. Watch a YouTube video to be sure but wash the brush with only cold water (the dirt will come off) and let it dry for 24 hours. DO NOT get internal brush head parts wet.Final ThoughtsThis vacuum is worth the money. We got it on sale for 20% off and we are extremely happy we did. Easy to use and clean, expertly cleans rugs and hardwood, and just a great all around machine. We own other Dyson products (hair care) but this purchase cemented us into being a Dyson household.
Suction is barely adequate – power button location poorly designed. I have 2 issues with this vacuum. If I didn’t already have 2 other Hoover products that use the same battery system I would return the vacuum.1. The suction is not very powerful. There are 2 settings and the low is not really usable it’s just not powerful enough. The high is just OK – what you would expect from a normal battery operated vacuum.2. The power switch is in a poorly designed location. When holding the unit during use it is way too easy to hit the button and the unit turns off. I’ve done this 3 times while using the vacuum and I’ve only used it for about 20 minutes.
A great vacuum for the money. So this is my favorite stick. Vacuum always has been my other one held up until the stick didn’t want to stay up anymore. It kept falling over and so I donated it to my church and they use it and it works quite well. Still, it still sucks up everything. It still works. This one here is a bit different. They changed the brush on it. So the brushes aren’t as close together as they were before, so it doesn’t Pick up with the brushes as well as it used to. But the suction is more so it works about the same. So the brush is a little bit different, which I wish they would change it back to the old brush. Other than that, this is a perfect little vacuum. It does great on carpeting, all types of carpeting, and Wood floors are whatever type of flurge that you have that have no carpet. It works really well. I love this vacuum. It’s not heavy. The only thing I want to say about this new one is the rubber piece where you grip your hand on. I have bad Arthritis and stuff, and it tends to rub my hand and hurt it. The other vacuum. I did not do that. So I think they made that rubber piece around where you grip your hand a little bit more hard, and it just it rubs my hand wrong. So I have to hold my vacuum different now. So that it does not give me a sore, so if they would go back to the softer version on the hand grip. And go back to the original brush, this is the perfect vacuum. It’s absolutely amazing
Oh- the detect light isn’t a just a gimmick, it’s for real.. It works. The vacuum is amazing too. Well, I honestly didn’t think I’d be reviewing this any time soon or buying one considering the price, but then our stove caught our kitchen on fire along with my old beloved V10. Shoutout to my Dad’s insurance for this V15. I’m what you would call a vacuum enthusiast, but my true love is with shop vacs. I make daily disasters in the shop. In the house on carpet and hard floor though, these cordless Dyson vacs (v10 or better) aren’t a joke, they really work and they really replaced our old Dyson ball animal v2 completely. We have a 130lb infinite hair generator (yellow lab) and he generates as much hair as I do saw and metal dust. Not having to deal with a cord completely changed the way I vacuumed, from begrudgingly when my Dad told me to cause we’re having company, to sort of enjoying it and doing it 4-5 times per week. I’ve shown the effectiveness of and actually sold 2 family members and 1 friend on cordless vacs. Unless you live in a small mansion with multiple pets I sincerely bet even an older or cheaper Dyson would suit your needs.Anyway how’s the V15 compared to the V10? Yeah it’s basically better in every way, unsurprisingly, but the surprise to me was the fact the green detect LED isn’t some desperate gimmick, not entirely, it really shows just how clean (or not) your floors are. I’m not a clean freak, but the fluffy detect motorhead will reveal dirt dust and hair you didn’t know was there. How much that actually matters is entirely dependent on your threshold for cleanliness but if nothing else it’s a great visual reminder of what needs work and where you’ve been. The suction is fantastic and borderline ballistic on boost mode. I’m pretty confident I’ll never encounter an actual need for boost mode but I’m so glad they added it. It doesn’t feel any heavier than the v10 at the handle but it’s been a minute since I’ve used the v10 as it got cooked. Battery life is impressive given the power. I could vacuum every single room of my dad’s old 2700 sqft house with the v10 and an aftermarket 6.5ah battery in one charge. Given the higher suction and smaller 3.6ah battery of this v15 I hesitate to guess but I’d say it’d definitely be able to clean the vast majority’s highest traffic/dirtiest areas on a charge for sure. The auto power adjustment was a little jarring at first and a feature I wasn’t aware of, especially considering the 3 power settings you can still manually select, but it actually does it’s thing and works great. I’m not sure if you can turn it off. The dust canister is easy and holds a similar if not larger amount of dust compared to the v10. The fluffy detect motorhead is actually eager to climb and hop some impressive elevation changes in your floor and floor dividers. On hard floors especially with the fluffy motorhead it’s much more maneuverable and easier to push, but the carpet motorhead on carpet is definitely harder but not much more than the v10. It does a fantastic job on even medium to heavy pile carpet (Not those shag area rugs though) and makes lightning quick work of hard floors. For how much this costs you’d really hope it’s good, and in my humble opinion it definitely is. Indoors this is the best vacuum I’ve ever used by 5 or 6 good country miles.
Good vacuum but not perfect. The good… This is a light weight vacuum with lots of suction power. I have a big set of stairs. I really like the light weight canister, that it can detach and be super light to carry while vacuuming tight corners and going up and down the stairs safely. It’s a regular vacuum and not a stick but detached, nearly as light weight as sticks. With attachments I can vacuum the ceiling and air vents. It is super light while in the upright vacuum mode, especially on carpets. It was the best price I could find online for this particular vacuum. The swivel head is another good reason to buy.The not so good… 4 Stars because Shark this shark has a short hose which makes the use while the canister is detached somewhat cumbersome and there are pretty much zero extensions (pole extensions) you can buy that fit. I believe shark uses off standard hose sizes. I am going to try a specially made attachment (I got on Amazon) so I can use some of the standard attachments I already have. We’ve had other Shark vacuums and none of those attachments fit this one which is a major bummer. Still, it’s still a good buy if you can get around the hose issues. Especially for the light weight and versatility of use while the canister is detached. There are great attachments out there you can buy, however strangely, not the pole ones I need.Still, this is a great vacuum for the price. Works well, Durability, good suction. Absolute buy.Update, the attachments I bought work great and make this vacuum highly functional.
Great suction! Light, easy to maneuver. UPDATE: 11/11/25. I need to update. I was WRONG about the stand. I was looking for another one since they are on sale right now and DISCOVERED THAT Shark has added a stand to this item and the Pro. I am delighted so I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE TODAY for upstairs! Now, I can donate that old XXX heavy vacuum. Thank you, Shark! j cI bought this vacuum in May 2025, and I am sorry I didn’t buy it when it was first available. After lugging a bigger vacuum cleaner around the house, this vacuum cleaner has made everything so much easier. At 7.6 lbs., it is so much easier to get up the stairs. AND – here is a big one – it is so much easier to take off the wand and VACUUM the stairs. It goes everywhere the old big, earthbound one cannot. I would recommend wearing earplugs. The floor nozzle pivots easily and is flat enough to get under so much more.Transition from carpet to short carpet to hard floor could not be easier – small thumb movement. Attachments are well done. Dropping the dirt into a bag is really easy. The best part is it has VERY STRONG SUCTION – that really surprised me. It leaves tracks in the carpet the same or BETTER than my old conventional style. Super easy to simply detach the top for quick pick up, or to get places.I would suggest to Shark to make a stand that snaps-on/clamps on the wand; or a permanent one of the newer models. Not interested in buying a stand for $$. l won’t buy something that won’t stabilize the vacuum while in use. This is truly a must because since it can’t stand well as it is, and stopping the vacuum to move stuff, putting it down on the floor, top can get warm, slows down the task.Bottom line – great suction, light weight, very maneuverable, easy to do stairs via just the top part. Check.Oh wait – how about vacuuming the car?? Check and Check
Fabulous Vaccum Cleaner. Absolutely love this vacuum! Works well on any surface and with hard to reach places. Great suction power and very lightweight! Love the attractive and sleek design, very user friendly.
Great budget friendly vacuum. This Shark upright vacuum has exceeded my expectations. The suction power is incredibly strong and picks up everything from hair to fine dust with no problem. It works great on both carpet and hardwood, and the transition between surfaces is seamless. The design is easy to maneuver, the attachments are genuinely useful, and the dust canister is simple to empty. It feels well-built and performs like a much more expensive vacuum.Overall, this is a fantastic vacuum that delivers outstanding cleaning power. Highly recommend!
SHARK Does The Job. REALLY nice vacuum cleaner! Very well constructed, easy to use, strong suction, roller brush assembly is quite powerful and thorough. Easy to service and maintain, too. The lift-out cannister feature and adaptation for the hose fixtures is very intuitive and works great! Replacement filter sets are inexpensive and can be cleaned and reused! SHARK MAKES IT!
Awesome Vacuum. I love this vacuum!! After researching a bit for the best cordless vacuum, I decided to go with this choice! The green detection light is a game changer as well! My floors are wayyy cleaner than previously when I swept with just a broom as the suction power on this vacuum leaves barely anything behind! Storage for dirt/dust is great, battery life lasts for my whole 2 story home, and it is much easier to transport around than my previous bulky vacuum! It’s even very durable, as I dropped on accident a few times, a still looks good as new! My new favorite way to clean
